Engine Fail Safe Mode and Edge??

hey people, well i was out driving around and i was gonna do a 0-60 time, went to build up the rpms to launch the truck by power breaking a bit( around 2000 rpms). Then on my dash the screen displays "Engine Fail Safe Mode". My tuck started to miss fire like crazy, shut the truck off and back on then went away...

has any one had this problem or know what this is

Current mods are
Volant
Magnaflow exhaust
JBA headers
edge

can some one help me out, it has miss fired like 10 times on normal driving then goes away then it has gone into "Engine Fail Safe Mode" two times...

imfairly certain it sounds like an "idiot proof" feature or as i like to callit down in texas redneck proof. i bet its on there to shut it down if the computer thinksit will harm the drivetrain ....not a 100% sure bet i think it is a safe bet.what does everyone else think???

Like we discussed online, it was most likely overheating the torque converter, or a conflict with the lockup schedules that put you into safe mode. When powerbraking, you dont need to get the RPMs very high, and dont holder for any longer than you absolutely have to. Building too much heat can acutally hurt your performance.

I know that you and I discussed this online, but I wanted to post it here so other people could use the information

do you have an owners manual? i think fail safe mode is when the motor is hot it shuts off every other cylinder causing less heat and also using the deactivated cylinder as a air pump for additional cooling.my wife has my truck tonight so my owners manual is not here.

Take your edge out and do an update and re-install. This problem has been fixed. I had the same problem. The quick fix, is to do what you did, shut off the engine and re-start. It should not do it again unless you try to re-program your truck with the edge on different settings. Do the update and you should have no problems.
