replacing guage cluster

hey guys i have a 2001 supercrew and im replacing my guage cluster... i got stuck taking my dash off, whats the trick? the left side where the light switch and air vent is stuck. is there a bolt holding it in i tried pulling it like the rest it just wont come off. please help!

What you have to do is take a paperclip and make kind of a hook in the end; turn the light switch to full on (pull it out if you've got foggies too) stick it in and wiggle around a bit. You should then be able to turn it 180 degrees and the whole thing should fall out. Definitely want to google it and make sure, it's been awhile since I did it in mine.

i have taken off the **** and turned it 180 degrees and it will not come off. what do i do?

You should be able to get that cover off without takin the light switch out. Is the dash covers off under the steering wheel? There are 2 bolts on the very bottom of the dash panel that encircles the IP cluster, so u need to get the lower kick panel off for that. I haven't done one of these in a while, but I did just have one out of a 2000 Ranger today at work and I believe they were similar. You may beed to remove the radio bezel too to get more room to move around.....
