Broken down and need some help
I was driving my 97 on the highway at about 55. All of a sudden it died. It will turn over, but not start. There is no wait to start light. The OD light is on and will not turn off by the button. It is not blinking. I changed the CPS. No help. I had a friend come over with a computer to check for codes. It will not link. I tried an Actron scanner and it said the same thing - link error. I have radio, lights etc. No start. Could the pcm be fried? I checked all the fuses under the hood and under the dash. All good. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the replies.
There is no chip. Basically stock. I tried the batteries when it happened. It didn't help. There are a few things that would keep it from starting, but I would think they would throw a code, not prevent the link to the computer. My concern is, if the pcm is fried, did it just get old and have a heart attack, or did something short it out. If it is a short, a new one would short out as well. I think they are about $380.00, so I don't want to experiment. The OD light on and no link make me think bad pcm. But I don't know how the no WTS light fits in. I don't hear the relay click either.

Mine are not numbered, but I checked all of them under the hood and under the dash. All seem good. What size is #2? And what does it do? If I remember right the fuse for the pump in the tank is also for the WTS light. But that would not explain the no link to the pcm. What about relays or fusible links?

Report. It turns out that the fuel heater was the problem. I have a lot of work going on and not much time for truck repair. So it took a while to figure it out. I still need to find time to finish fixing the problem. But thanks to all of you, I am going in the right direction. Thanks again for the help.
