Our truck is intermittently not starting. The ignition turns but doesn't catch. When it does start the anti-theft light blinks seven times and continues to do so. I switched to the spare key but the problem still is ongoing. any help would be appreciated.

 

Does the engine turn over, but not start when you have this problem? I have the same thing going on. I have tried switching keys and it doesn't seem to help. I have noticed it does it when I lock/unlock the truck several time without actually starting the truck. When I'm at work I will run to my truck and get something out of it and lock it back.


What works for me is to close the door, use the remote lock button and lock, unlock, lock, unlock, lock, and unlock and it will start. Sounds stupid, I know but it has worked three time for me.

Try this and see if it works. I hope this helps.

When failure occurrs, leave the ignition in Run for several minutes and wait to see if the lite flashes a 2 digit code.
If so come back and tell what it is.
I can give you a lead on what the system sees as a fault.

 

Well if the blinking of the anti-theft light is in code then I would say it is the number 16. this truck doesn't have a remote alarm/entry. i am just wondering if it is an electrical problem or mechanical. thanks.

 

There is no code 16 listed. Check again carefully what the two digets are.
They should repeat.
EXAMPLE: 2 flashes -space- 4 flashes would = a code 24.
