Pinto IFS
I'm just getting started on a '56 street rod project and I was looking for IFS. I found a Pinto independent front suspension with a power rack last week. I was wondering if it was the same as the mustang II ifs. I need to know if it is because the crossmembers made for my application are for Mustang II but the if the pinto ifs is the same, I could just use a mustang II ifs crossmember from Heidts. Your help is appreciated.

I believe certain year pintos qualify, but I suggest you call Heidts, TCI or which ever supplier has the crossmember that you will or might purchase and they will list the available donor cars. You most likely will want to change out all the bushing and bring it up to near new condition before the install and thy also have complete kit for that. The price was similliar to seperate pricing I got at the local auto parts store. Ed ke6bnl

You might want to check to see if you will need a rack extender for the ps unit. It is not the same to just add length to the rod ends. If you do and they are the same as those used on the 50 f1 I have a new set I will sell for half the cost 25$ or trade. Let me know if this of any value. These included a spacers that screw on to the rack and larger and longer bellows and clamps. Ed ke6bnl@juno.com
Heidts was able to tell me which cars have the proper suspension to work with there cross members. The Heidts crossmember includes the boxing plates. It is a clean set up.
The place I purchased the Heidts front end was Rodparts Warehouse 1800-3735773 I got the tube a arm and the these were beefyer then anything I have herd of. I got good service and pleasent. For what that is worth. Ed
