Gas Tank

We jsut bought a 1990 Ford Ranger Pick UP. The Badge says that it is an XLT but it only has a 4 cyl engine. The gas gauge does not register and we need to know what size the gas tank is.

Extended cab or regular cab??? BTW the 4cyl was the base motor on the XLT until 2002. Its rare to find one with a 4cyl, but they were out there.

It's not an extended cab. It is a 5 speed 4 cyl. with 2 wheel drive. We think the gas tank is 15 or 16 gallons. Chilton's manual says 15 gallons and Edmunds.com says 16 gallon. Ford dealer couldn't tell us anything b/c the truck wasn't in their computer anymore - they didn't even have a book to look in!! Sad state of affairs as far as I'm concerned!

Try this.....it works for me.

Go to www.ford.com then select Owners...(www.fordvehicles.com/owners/)... and register your truck by creating a MyFord site. All it requires is your VIN. From there, select Resource Center on the left, then Owners Guide and you should see choices of the various owners manuals for your truck. The manuals I can access are shown below.
