Alternators 130A vs.200A
I think the alt. on my truck needs to be replaced. I have always disliked the way the headlights would dim at idle, so I was hoping to get a bigger one to prevent this.
Will a 130A help or is it worth the extra $$ for the 200A? I do have a pair of foglites (PIAA) on it and a amp'd stereo, but even with them off it has always had the lites dim at idle.
Also, where is a good place to get an upgraded alt.? The only places I saw them was Summit and Checker. Both where kinda spendy.

Try your local pull-a-part and grab a 3G alternator (and the harness) from a 94-97 Mustang/ T-Bird/ Cougar with a 3.8 V-6 (used one off of a 95 Sable with the 3.8, works excellent). It is 130 Amps and a very easy swap. I think I spent a total of $50 in wiring and the alternator for my swap.
