Stock mufflers or performance????

Stock mufflers or performance????
I'm installing headers along with the 302 engine upgrade
in my 59 F-250 custom cab. I'd like to run dual exhaust
and kick it out in front of the rear tires. Because I liked the sound of the original muffler, I thought about just installing two instead of the normal performance mufflers. Anyone have an opinion on this??? Am I just restricting/undoing the addition of headers?? If I should go with performance mufflers, Which ones will give me the throaty sound but not wake the neihbors in the morning????
Appreciate any and all feedback.

For my own application (302 with headers in a '50 F47), I just used "oversized" off-the-shelf mufflers. I was pleasantly surprised with the sound it produced, a healthy rumble, but quiet enough to come home late at night and not wake the neighbors.
Hope that helps!

Thanks Kris. How was the performance?
This is my first try in the v-8 world unfortunately.
Can anyone give me an idea of how the 302 will do in this truck.
I didn't really get a chance to drive it before when it was running.(running badly at that). How will it do with the original granny 4 speed in it? I'd like to go on the freeway.
I'm open to all ideas, opinions, and suggestions.
Thanks guys for all your help.

Stock mufflers or performance????
My 54 F100 has a 5.0 L EFI from a 92 Mustang. I installed the headers from the Mustang without a problem. Because I wanted all the electronics to work normally, and keep duals on it, I bought an aftermarket two-in/two-out converter, fed the exhaust from the driver side over to the passenger side, then fed both them parallel into the converter. Then I installed two 15" bullet glass packs staggered behind them. Again I crossed over the driver side exhaust from the passenger side so that the pipes come out on each side at the back. I moved all the exhaust to the passenger side because I installed a Ranger fuel tank on the driver side just behind the cab.
The truck really sounds good, but is not too loud for the neighborhood and looks good with the pipes out the rear. Soon I will post some pictures.
I am using a locking 3.0 rear from a '70 Mustang, my tires are 255/60 on 15/8 wheels (American Eagle 58's). My engine turns about 3000 rpm at 78 MPH, or 2500 at 65 MPH.
I can't 'burn rubber' from the traffic light, but I can pass just about anyone I wish.
Hope some of this helps.

Thanks for the info. Did anyone who installed a 302
still use the original transmission? I just got a
service manual so I can determine what all the specs are.
I haven't found the VIN or a stamp anywhere on the frame.
I'll be able to get the VIN though when I get the title
from my friend this week. My friend told me it had a Dana
70, but from what I've read it's a Spicer 60. (May sound dumb)
Is this the same thing as a Dana 60? How do I determine the
gear ratio? The book only lists for an F-100.
Again, thanks everyone for your input.
