Short box superduty

Does anyone have any pictures or info on single cab shortbed f250/f350 trucks. I know they are made in brazil and are two wheel drive. I also know there are a few customs running around the states. Also looking for info on a shortened excursion like the one featured on truckin's website. I saw one in Brazil when in the military and have wanted a 4x4 version ever since. I think it would make an awesome trail machine. Any aditional info would be of great help. Thanks

I tried the Brazillian site, didn't find one. Did find 2 interesting things.

First, they have a truck smaller than a Ranger, the Courier.

2nd, they make a commercial F-350 chassis with a Cummins 3.9

Turns out the Ford Brazil site is in Portugese. Also yes the shortbox superduty im talking about has a 3.9cummins available as well as a v6 diesel. Couldnt find one on the South America site. ive found a few pictures here and there. Some other offroaders in the local fullsize club agree that a shortened excursion would be a great trail rig as well as a shortbox 250. Would make a great(expensive one) project to shorten a longbox frame and use a shortbox from a ext cab.

Supposedly there are also short bed single cab powerstroke versions running around in the states. I've seen pics, but never seen one personally. No idea if they were factory, or if they were custom.

Were they railroad service trucks? I have seen some pretty weird railroad service truck configurations around where I live.

Big airport terminals also have some unique setups for tugs and general towing.

Web page translated via babelfish.altavista.com:

Rude force

F250 turbodiesel has the torque of a truck, but
it can be used -- almost -- as an automobile

Heir of a tradition of more than 40 years of pickups Ford, the new F250 Turbodiesel makes an impression for the appearance and the numbers. Bigger, more he is weighed and more powerful than any another one pickup diesel already manufactured in Brazil: they are 5,34 meters of length, 2 of width, 2,5 tons and 180 cv in new engine MWM Sprint, of 6 cylinders and line, 18 valves, turbo and aftercooler, similar to the used one since 1997 in its only direct competitor, GM Silverado.

Lines are current, with prominence for the "step" in the windows. Logotipo turbodiesel identifies the version

The new engine comes to complement offers of the F250, launched in January with the V6 of 4,2 liters and 205 cv, the gasoline, and the Cummins 4-cylinders of 3,9 liters and 145 cv, turbodiesel. Version MWM is most expensive of the line: R$ 41,958 in finishing XL and R$ 53,770 in the most luxurious XLT, being able to arrive the 46,500 R$ and R$ 56,030, in the order, with all the optional ones. In the version evaluated for the Best Cars, XL, are available in air-conditional only package, electric glass controls, constraints and retrovisores, sliding, projecting window back regulable in height and net door-objects. Everything this comes serial in the XLT, whose optional antitravamento of the front brakes, aluminum wheels and inflatable stock market for the driver are summarized it.

Despite the austerity of version XL, with grating and bumper in black color-fosco, the lines of the F250 make an impression for the transport and the current drawing. The "step" in the windows facilitates the use of the ample retrovisores and the lens of the lighthouses uses policarbonato. The dump-cart brings protective frisos in the floor, but the grating in the back glass would have to be serial, as well as the sliding window. An unforgivable detail is the antenna of radio, high and not by telescope, that it needs to be removed when entering in garages of go little higher than the ceiling of pickup.

Dump-cart carries up to 1.832 liters. Espartano interior has relative comfort stops
two and useful details as the pointer of malfechadas doors

Simplicity also dominates the interior, with rubberized floor, panels of door in modest plastic and fabric in the banks. On the other hand the ceiling daily pay-is molded and the panel, almost complete -- manometer of turbo --, lacks receives pleasant indirect illumination with green light. The bank has division in 1/3 and 2/3, being the part of the passengers fixed, without no regulation. The Ford could foresee greater space for objects (today almost null) and eliminate the possibility, common to Ranger, of if perhaps closing the door of the driver with the set in motion constraint -- and the key inside. Not in the contact, however: sineta has a bothering to alert its esquecimento.

Relative comfort for the driver, nor in such a way for the central passenger, who travels with the enormous tunnel of the transmission bothering the legs. This makes use of leans of head, but not of belt of three points. They in the distance please the excellent visibility and details as the timer of the internal light, indicating of malfechadas doors and adjustment of the timer of the windscreen cleaner -- that the winches of glasses are very low and the windscreen degradê only makes lack.

Here is a pick from the Billet Badges website of a custom super duty with a short bed reg, cab. It looks pretty good. I was always a fan of the original F-150 Lighting. I bet that truck is fast, just not practical for a work truck.
