Cobb, The 1959 emblems have 4 pins on them. The 1960 emblems are longer, but only have 3 pins. Are you sure you don't have a 1960 hood on your truck? 1959-60 hoods look identical except for the front. The '59 hood front has an "expanded metal" mesh insert, with the F O R D letters across it, where as the '60 hood front has a "crest" emblem in the middle, and two narrow slots on either side.

It sure doesn't make sense! It could only be one of two things. Either some previous owner has modified and installed the metal mesh insert into a '60 hood to make it a '59 (I've seen that before), or someone had done some body work to the original '59 emblem holes, and installed 1960 emblems for some reason. Can you see what's behind the metal mesh insert at all?

cobb, it should look like this. This is a 1959 hood.

Either way, the emblems you have are correct for the 1959 F-350. Both the '59 and '60 emblems were positioned on the hood side from the rear most hole in the hood. Inside the hood (on that same hole), there is a bigger hole on the inner panel, to fit a socket into and tighten the nut. That hole is in the same spot for both '59 and '60 hoods. I hope this helps.

Cobb, Which stuff are you refering to? Anyway, what you have is definately a 1960 hood. If you already have the metal mesh insert installed, the hard part is done. As far as the emblems go, the foward most hole from the 1960 emblems will be the only hole that shows once the 1959 emblems are installed. (I'm assuming you are going for the total '59 look). An easy way to position your '59 emblems is to touch the tips of the pins with a color of lipstick that will show up on your paint. While carefully centering the the rear most pin over the rear most existing hole in the hood, and holding the emblem level, gently touch the emlem pins to the hood. Now you know where to drill your new holes. The foward most holes(from the old '60 emblems) can be filled by tig welding a sheetmetal disc in the hole, and then using a filler.
