Know what it is, and plan on using it for the heater/components in my '56. I love that stuff.

Hammertone paint used to be hard to find. When I painted the heater in my F-2 severn or eight years ago I had a heck of a time finding it. Now I see it everywhere that spray paint is sold. Any good hardware store or big box home improvement place has it. It's a tough paint and it matched the paint on the back of my heater box and heater control panel perfectly.

I just used silver hammertone paint on my heater for my 52 and it looks great. The stuff I used was made by Rustoeum, came in a rattle can. I'm guessing you could get pretty much anywhere that sells spray cans. The textured finish did a great job at hiding a few rust pits I had in the sheetmetal.

Krylon # RTA 9242 Charcoal Gray Hammertone paint, sold at AutoZone, PepBoys, Wally World, etc. Anywhere even like Home Depot that sells Krylon. It's a perfect match to the OEM stuff on most 48-52 heaters. Just did mine, it looks like new! One word of advice; the way hammertone paint works makes it very susceptible to "fisheyes", so wipe it down with a clean lint-free cloth, wet with mineral spirits before spraying. Works best at warm temps too, at least 60 degrees.
