I thought of going the same route on my 05 5.4l. What I can gather is that sound is about all is gained with little to no performance enhancement unless you add headers.

Speaking of headers, I was looking into getting some for my 5.4 in F-250 SD 4X4, and only found one maker "Gibson".. They seemed really well thought out but were about $600.. Just wondering if there were other makers??

I noticed that if you try to find a Cat-back system for an F-250 you get 6.0 PSD systems. If you try to find a 5.4L system, you get F-150 stuff.

Does anyone make a Cat-back system for an F-250 with a 5.4?

The only cat back system I have found for my 06 F250 5.4 is Gibson. They show on their web sight they make a couple of systems for our trucks.

Thumbs up

I went with the Gibson stainless/rear side exit on mine , sounds awesome, plus it was the only one listed to fit with the rear factory sway bar , Craig.

When i had my 5.4 i installed a flowmaster 40 series from the cat with duals out the back.It sounded great and gave me noticable power increase. I got alot of complimants on the sound but it was a little loud.

the thing is, the factory system is 3"... so you might as well just do a mufffler, and maybe a cat; i put a magnaflow muffler and cat on mine, had $100 into both of them, them added a nice 4" stainless tip.

Yeah 3" is good for up to 325hp IIRC. What kind of "sound" are you looking for? Obnoxiously loud or a nice rumble with a rather quiet idle? Ravin makes 2 or 3 different catback mufflers and Midas carries them. If you get headers long tube are the only way to go but also incredibly hard to find.

Redford ,it seams to run a little better , but not the kind of difference you get from a gear change etc. also I just heard a brand new system that a guy ordered from dynomax ,for his 05 f250 5.4l , so new they don't have it on the web site yet , it replaces the cat back system with one oval muffler and two 2 1/2" rear exit pipes , sound awesome , I thought my gibson sounded great till I heard this system , Craig.
