So I have a 1996 F-250 HD with a 351 and had a tree stump to rip out at my house. So I used the truck to bring in the equipment needed to remove the stump. My gross weight was a little over 23k lbs at one point and the truck held its own very well. The truck was not really even sagging that much, just a little slower getting up to speed. I don't think I would want to pull any more weight than that, but it did not feel like way to much for the truck, just a bit doggy from stops and really loud with my pipes. Here are a few pics from my weekend fun I thought I would share.

On the truck scale

And the tree stump that I was told I would never get out

So I went and picked up a truck for my buddy today. It is a 87 Chevy C10. He got it for 600 and making a woods toy! Truck towed like a champ so I can't complain. This is the second big tow for me and my truck. The only problem is I found that the 7 pin plug is wired wrong. Step on brakes and all lights came on. LOL Right turn signal and all lights blink so tomorrow I will be fixing that! Chevy is on my dads 10,000lb trailer and has is torsion bar set up witch make it nicer. Well enough B/S and the pics.

No I just had the tree cut down and put up a new fence around the yard, I bought a new house last sept and I am trying to do it up right in the back yard. Now its time for a in deck hot tub where the stump was, that is why I really wanted the stump out. But there is talk between the wife and I about putting an in ground pool on that side of the yard when we do the new garage next year. But we will just have to see how it goes.

I was just lifting the front of backhoe up when I was trying to pull it out. I spent around 12 hours just digging. That chain in the pic did not work out, I got the stump out about 4 hours after that pick was taken. I ended up ramming the root system a few times with the front loader topped out in 2nd gear to get the stump to brake loose. Then I was stuck with all of the weight on the bucket and had to pull it out with the help of the skidsteer. The stump weighed so much (4,500lbs) that the steering would not work right and I blearily got the stump on the trailer. I don't have any more pics of the fun, but I did not think the stump was going to come out until about 15 mins before I actually got it broke free.

does'nt sound like fun. i've had too much weight in the front bucket and i know what your talking about when the steering fails. you seem to stare at all and any hydralic lines...and just wait for a bath.

Haven't had a chance to get this weighed yet, (still working out some title issues with the DMV) but this is my 16 foot gooseneck stock trailer. Before I took care of some injection, intake, and exhaust issues Clyde was kind of dogged coming out of 1st uphill with this but now you barely notice the trailer while driving. I still need to wire some electric brakes into the 5-pin but other than that it's in great shape for an '81.

You know, I'm not sure. I know the wheelbase is a hair wider than my SRWs. I want to say it's got the same wheelbase as the 8th gen duallys. I've been driving it around all day. I finally got it declared street legal by the state of California today. Now I can start restoring it!

FIrst tow with my n-used '97 F350 7.3 PSD CC 4x4. We actually managed to get away for a "relaxing weekend. No repairs, no mods" This truck replaces my 2005 F350 6.0 PSD CC 4x4, which I sold. Oh, still need to put the trim pieces on the bed, which is a replacement.
