I have "Lazeras", a 59 panel that is waiting on the 48 to get on the road. Just saved it from the crusher/rust monster but not working on it right now, actually came with a 318 Mopar mill, that's no running.

Just got hold of a 49 F47 which is a Canadian built ford. I guess it would be an F3 if it were built here. Not too many of these around I imagine.

I was looking at your gallery yesterday and she looks like a keeper. Have you looked into seeing if the side windows were factory or something that was put in afterwards? Glad to see another panel owner on here.

I think that the side windows have been added on but not sure. My thoughts right now are to take them out and weld in some good old steel to make it look more panel like. It runs good but I don't know enough about flatheads/gearing to know how to set it up as a daily driver 0 -50 miles 55 to 60 mph.

Here's to PANELS.

Definately take your time welding in those holes if your going to do away with those windows, you could end up with a lot of warpage. Good luck, if you need some advice check out many of AX racer's threads, he has very good explanatiions on this topic.

Ken welding the panels in the side of the panel is going to pose a big problem, not only because it's a big panel to weld on but the sides of the panel have a slight compound curve. Unless you're really good with a English wheel and form a piece of sheet metal that will fit you're going to have a hard time fitting a piece in. There recently was a post about a post on the HAMB that a person has a completely junk panel truck that the only parts I see are of any good was the roof and the side panels.

50'/51' F1 Panel Body - THE H.A.M.B.

I Googled the distance and it's about a 1500 mile round trip for you. But that would be the way to go to make some decent patches for the side of your panel.

My side windows look the same as yours kmule. The story on mine is,...my panel was built for Uncle Sam and the windows were added and installed at the armys request prior to delivery and installed by an old coach company in NJ.
I talked to a guy a while back who was selling a panel on ebay with the same side windows. He said that this window option was refered to as a "Shop Truck " option .
I didnt like mine at first but , now that I put in the bucket seats , its a lot easyer to see at "hairy" road intersections.
I am with BobJ on the window removal and welding. I have seen this done ,( on a bigger window ) and it was real noticable.
Its nice to see a Panel of Panels...

To All with suggestions on the windows
I appreciate the advice. We have just had some good rain and two of the windows leak a bit. I could talk with my Glass man and see if he has some good rubber seals. Just can't figure if I like the windows or not. I restore old 40s warbirds and have done a lot of english wheel in aluminum. I certainly am paying attention to the forum members. This is a really great place to learn about this machine. I feel lucky to have found the forum
