panel
Hi John, There is also another 56 panel down here west of Melbourne, unbelievable but the same colour as mine, I found it the hard way as mine was lock up in the shed and 2hrs later I thought I had found it behind a cyclone fence in Dandenong and the closer I got to it I saw it was not a M1 and the wheels were different and no way all that could be done in that short time,, the heart was pumping though..

workin' on a '56 here in spring hill, fl. Hopefully within a few monthes it'll be able to move on it's own power in the garage at leasst...will post some pics..fyi, it'll have a 460 with ~500 horses/c6 and a highway friendly 2.75 9" (eventually a 3.25 posi?). Finished color will be satin black throughout
FYI it weighed (at a weigh station) with me (185 lbs) without any interior and a 428 engine ~3950 lbs.

Howdy Panel Brothers. I just refound (is that a word) this forum. Looks like I first registered in December '08 but never posted anything. I have had my '48 panel for more years than I care to admit BUT it looks like it's finally time to get back on it. It had a SBF (289) and C-4 in it when I bought it way back when. It's going back together with an AOD and a lot of other updates like AC, power steering/windows, etc but will still look pretty much stock except for being lowered via dropped axle/reversed eye spring and a rear lowering kit. I'm also going the M-47 Mercury route with most but not all the Merc trim, '50 Merc wheels/caps, and Merc FE valve covers.
The current work involves installing a Toyota 4X4 power steering box, and new block hugger headers - both of which are resulting in making new motor mounts to clear everthing. After that will be new brake & gas lines and all the other engine compartment issues. The body is ready for paint but that will come after all the mechanics are finished. If I'd get my butt out of this computer chair it wouldn't take all that long.
I hang out on the Ford Barn and the H.A.M.B which also results in less time in the garage. Hey it's a new year - maybe good things will hapen.

Hey HwyHogg, I'm just down in Clearwater finishing up a 6 year project. Here's pictures of both sides of the firewall. Hope to meet you a an event some day.
I see some touch up needed inside the heater. Pressure lubed the heater control cables (like an old dirt bike) and they work smooth as butter.

Your panel looks very nice also and a panel is a panel regardless of year. Certainly looks like it's in very good shape, are you planning to keep it original?
