'92 Escort 1.8L.
It was our first car in the United States. We owned it for about a year, and then I traded it when I bought Mustang.

2000 F150 5.4 supercab 4x4. By far biggest POS I've ever owned. 5.4 has been falling apart since about 77K.

We got Escort 3 months after moving to the USA, so we didn't know much about domestic vehicles back then. Escort have really good reputation in Europe, but not so good in the USA.

You all are talking about "good" cars. Try some of the cars I have had. How about a Simca, Plymouth Cricket, Sunbeam Arrow, Metropolitan (3), Fiat and a Renault. Not only did they break but you couldn't get replacement parts for them. Getting parts for European cars is bad enough but try getting them for orphan European Cars. I found out why they were very cheap and I found out why they were orphaned. Don't know how I missed having a Yugo.

Consider yourself lucky you didn't own a Wartburg, Moretti, or a Trabant!

Wartburg...a shining example of 1950's East German engineering had one laughable feature. The ignition switch bezel was labeled..."Fahrt!"

It usually didn't.

Thank goodness I didn't. I seemed to end up with vehicles orphaned by domestic companies that brought cars here and then abandoned them. The Simca, Cricket and Sunbeam were abandoned by Chrysler and the Metropolitan was abandoned by AMC. I also had a Ford Cortina after they were orphaned by Ford but it didn't break badly and parts could still be purchased. I just had a thing about being able to buy a 2 or 3 year old car for $200 (back in the late 60s and early 70s).
