Do you have any smoke out the Exhaust? Does the tach register when your cranking and does it seem to be turning over very fast???

no smoke out of the exhaust, that is what makes me think i have a problem. the tach is showing about 500 rpm and it is spinning very fast.

One more quick check is pulling the plug atop the HPOP resivor and seeing if its full of oil. Should be about 1/2 inch from the top.

I think i found the hpop resevoir. is it in front of the fuel filter but lower. I do not see a place to check the level.

It is the aluminum rectangular box on top of the front of the engine. There is a plug in the top of it, either hex head or square drive plug. Pull that plug and look inside with a flashlight to determine if it is full of oil, within a 1/2 inch of top. If not fill it up with a small funnel with regular diesel motor oil.
Also check to make sure that the fuel filter housing is full of fuel. It sounds like you may have a problem with your fuel heater element in your filter housing. Try unplugging it and make sure your #22 fuse is not blown and she may start right up.

You have a problem with a check valve in the HPOP allowing the oil to drain out. there is a fix to it, but I do not know what it is. I will look but I know there are some guys in this forum that can tell you off the top of their head

When you say oil do you mean diesel fuel? This is the first time it has hapened and it was when i had not cranked it for a couple of weeks. I will check on the valve to see what help someone can give me. I am real happy that it cranks for now.
