Can I remove one LCA bolt without having to worry?
The idiot that replaced my front lower control arm bushings cost me another $150 to correct only one of his problems. The popping was coming from the passenger side coil spring, he put it in upside down. That's not all he did. He put the camber bolt retainer on the driver side lower control arm on the back instead of the front of the arm where there is an obvious hole for the hook to sit in. He also tore my good balljoint up when he was taking out the passenger side control arm off and put the new balljoint's boot in wrong for the driver's side. He also tightened the wheel bearings too much. He must of had someone put the bushings in for him because those are all that's right. Now I have to get both lower balljoints replaced again and turn the camber bolt retainer to the front of the control arm. I'm wondering if it would be ok to do that myself. Can I remove that one bolt on the driver's side lower control arm that has the camber retainer on it and put the retainer on the front of the bolt in the slot on the arm without having to remove the whole arm? So the other control arm bolt on the front of the arm will still be in. Is this a risky to try? Will the spring shoot out because one of the control arm bolts comes out for a second?

I don't know the tech answer you seek, but if someone had 'serviced' my truck that way, you can be sure the owner would know, or if it was the owner that had done the work, and it was on a Visa or MasterCard, I'd be disputing the charge. If it were the owner mechanic, I'd be in his/her face about the damaged and incorrect work.
20/20 hindsight may be all we get out of the deal, but we can sure know to avoid incompetence in the future, no?

Have you gone back to him and talked to him about the incorrect defective work? The first thing you need to do is file a compliant aganist this shop and get your money back. The next thing is get that vehicle to a compete shop and have them look it over and fix it correctly before it causes you to get in an accident that might cost you or someone else's life.

I'm going to find this guy
This guy works at an industrial shop as a mechanic so his shop is not a legitmate repair shop. I only went there because someone recommended him. He doesn't even have a lift at the shop where he did the work. I'm going to tell him the next time I see him that he doesn't needs to quit working on people's car before he kills someone. The only other thing to fix is the camber bolt on the one lower control arm, I need to swap the retainer to the front of the bolt, because he put it on the back of the bolt. I talked to a legitmate shop and he told me he would help me out on replacing the lower balljoints at no cost. I have my receipts from the alignment shop which discovered everything in the first place and then my receipt from the shop who switched my spring back right. And next week I'm going to track this guy down and try and get my money back.
