48 F2 brakes

I have a 48 F2 thats missing ALL the brake parts on the right rear side. I cant seem to find F2 brake parts.Where can I find f2 brake parts? Can I use brake parts off a newer truck? I really want to keep my rear end and keep it orignal. Is it possible to istall a better brake system and still keep the orignal rearend

You can use parts for the rear brakes from 48-early 51. They changed the brakes to a different style. You have the rear wheel cyl.s that activate one side of the shoes The 52 and later use a more normal dual wheel cyl. If you went to the later brakes, you would have to change backing plates, shoes, hardware,Drums, etc...Even the housing halves are different.I would put some ads out there on all the websites looking for the parts you need. It would be easier to find what you need.

48 F2 brakes

Hi,
I see that you have a 48 F2, We just purchased one today.
I have heard that there were only about 800 or 850 of these trucks made. Do you have any other info on them that may be of help? I would also like info on the reverse polarity of the battery-can you help?? Thank you! keitha@voyager.net

Try ordering a catalog from LMC Trucks at www.lmctruck.com. They have some of the parts you're looking for. You may be able to find the hardware at an auto parts store, if you get someone willing to take the time to try to track the parts down. Good luck.
