73-79 100/150 SuperCab ShortBed
Did Ford produce a S/C S/B in the mid-70's? If so 2 or 4wd or both?
I've had a 79 F150 R/C S/B 4wd with a 429 and a 99 F250 SD S/C S/B TD. I really like the xtra room in the cab but want the vintage look.
About 10 years ago I bought a 72 429 Torino GT Fastback from a guy who was building a mid-70's 4wd S/C S/B and I seem to remember he was making 1 truck out of 2. Is this the only way to achieve the desired combination? If so, are there any suggestions where I might find wheelbase sizes so I can figure what I need in the way of donor trucks.
Thanks for any help!

I have a 1977 Ford Truck body Builders Layout Book that lists everything for that year. 1977 is the year in which Ford discontinued the "high boy" look about mid year. This is also made some adjustments to the frame width at this time. Here is what the book lists:
F/W = Frame width at rear of frame.
F-250 4x2 Standard Cab-133" Wheel Base (WB) F/W-37.6"
F-250 4x2 Super Cab-138" W/B-Short bed 155" W/B-Long bed F/W-37.6"
F-250 4x4 Standard Cab, Carryover Chassis-133" W/B-Long bed-F/W-34.02" (this is the fabeled "high boy" truck).
F-250 4x4 Crew Cab, Carryover Chassis-150.3" W/B-Long bed- F/W-34.02"
(again, the "high boy")
F-250 4x4 Standard Cab-Revised Chassis-133" W/B-Long bed-F/W-37.56"
F-250 4x2 Crew Cab-150.3"-W/B-Short bed-F/W-34.08"
F-250 4x4 Crew Cab-150.3"-W/B-Short Bed-F/W-34.08"
F-350 4x2 Standard Cab-136.8" W/B-Shor bed-F/W-34.02"
F-350 4x2 Standard Cab-160.8" W/B-Long Bed-F/W 34.02"
F-350 4x2 Camper Special-140" W/B-Long Bed-F/W-34.02"
F-350 4x2 Super Cab-155" W/B-Long bed-F/W-37.632"
F-350 4x2 Crew Cab-166.5" W/B-Long Bed-F/W-34.08"
In the F-100/F-150 series you could get a standard cab short bed and long bed, a super cab short bed and long bed but with the 4x4 option, only the standard cab, short bed/long bed versions were available, no super cab. As you can see, Ford had a hayday with the frame widths. Other years will undoubtly produce different deminsions for cab/bed combonations based on what Ford deemed necessary to fill the market needs. I did find it interesting that you could only get the super and crew cab 4x4's in a 3/4 ton model.
Hope this helps.

This is great from an info standpoint! From a "Ford building what I want" position, it kinda sucks.
They obviously weren't thinking of me!
I glanced at that parts catalog I mentioned before, and found body styles by body code number, which is shown on the door data plate. It confirms what you found, 2wd only, F250 only, starting with '76 or '77.
Well, it looks like I may need to find a........?
Thank you so much for the information!
Everybody keep it comin'

I've owned my 1975 F-250 Ranger "Shortbed" SuperCab w/460 & C6 for about 10 years now. During the time I've owned this truck, I've seen only a very small number of "Shortbed" SuperCab's like mine out on the road. I too, have had a few people who have made some very serious offers & also made repeated inquiries about how much it was going to take for me to sell them my truck. Just can't bring myself to a point where I would sell out such a vital member of my mental exercise, focus challange & knuckle busting therapy team!
Sometimes in a person's life, he will hopefully come to the point where he will realize and accept the fact that there's much more satisfaction to be had in life. Most of which has nothing at all to do with G.O.D. (General Order of Denomination)

Ok so i want to assume the supercab short box is 5" longer frame length(also wheelbase) than a standard cab long bed. Is this correct? I am going off my measurements from my short bed truck and my long bed truck out side. Neither are supercabs, but I measured the rear of the bed(from the bottom/rear of the wheel well to the very rear across the bottom sheet metal) and the length behind the axle is the same for short beds and long beds, so therefore the difference in wheel base should also be the difference in frame length(bumper-bumper)
