2004 F-150 Reveal
I love ford, but the new F-150 isn't getting a real warm feeling from me. I am going to see the truck at the auto show, so im HOPING that will boost my idea of the truck. But lately a few things have really been bothering me with fords in general. I understand whyt hey are doing some of it, but it still sorta irritates me.
5. Narrowing the availability of Manual Trans
4. Trying to glamorize the their trucks to a point where it looses it's "truckability" and simply becomes "that cool car".
3. Switching to MOdualr Engines for the trucks.
2. Putting the damn engine in the dashboard instead of the hood (this started in 97 and I hate it)
1. Sometimes Forgetting what the Truck was intended for and ADDING PLASTIC TO EVERYTHING!
Now I hate to talk all this negitivity but it's been bugging me latley. The front end on the truck looks classy and SOMEWHAT like the 96 back modles. But the sides don't impress me, and the workablity of the truck looks deminised... NO MORE PLASTIC ON THE EXTERIOR.
Make the sides less "styled" , Give us a Manual Options, and I will be content. Although it would be nice to see a 300 6 in them again.
But I still will always be a ford man.

Ok I am a total ford guy. I have a 67 mustang fastback and a 2000 f150 4x4, and a 86 f150 4x4. I love my truck and I even like my stang better. I know this is my second comment on here but I have to say I absolutely hate the look of this truck. I own a landscaping and irragation business and I was considering buying a new truck but not this one. The extended cab is a joke. its looks smaller than the current model and that is too small and crampy. Way to much plastic and the interior looks really cheap. It kinda looks like and over sized Nizzan frontier. The other thing I have to say is I saw the video on the concept truck for the F-350 Tonka. OOOOhhh my I think the people at ford are all smoking something. This maybe quite offensive to somepeople but It is my opinion. I am a die hard ford Fan but I am really disappointed :-( . All the best bob

I think your confused, or else I am. It looks like the regular cab now has back doors to open for storage. From what I see there are 3 different cab styles. The Super Crew with 4 full doors, the Super Cab with 2 full and 2 suicide doors, and the Regular Cab with 2 full size doors and 2 extremely small suicide doors. Maybe someone can help us out with this.

I have to say I like the new F-150! It sure looks better than the current model, although it has some hints of the explorer sport-trac`s tacky plastic look.I do like the super-duty influence of the styling though.I also like the engineering features like fully-boxed hydroformed frame,3 valve triton V8,cast aluminum lower control arms, etc.Overall, this truck looks like another winner for Ford and should ensure Fords continued market leadership for a long time to come.I think I`m gonna buy one!

I agree with Bob 100%. I also have a '67 'stang and an '86 4X4 (shortbed flareside). I think the last real truck was the '96 and back styles. Did you see the new mustang concept? From what I hear I'm the only one who dosn't like it, but I gotta say, It's ugly. All of these new cars need smaller bumpers, they are all to massive and awkward looking. The new "fastback" is the same as the current roofstyle less the quarter windows! Oh well, the last real 'stang was back in '73!

I would have to agree on bob's point on how ugly its overall look is, and the fact that the whole industry is leaning towards plastic cars, it is extremely dissapointing and very irritating.
I haven't seen the new Dakota, what does it look like? I didn't ahve time to attend the car show. My first ever miss of the car show.

I kinda like the new F-150s... every time I see a pic of 'em I'm like "hmmm... they look kinda cool" Very agressive looking. But yes... its sad that Ford is going away from what a truck's true purpose is by adding plastic and whatnot. But how many new truck buyers actually use their trucks for working?? I use mine for hauling wood, gear we use for commercial fishing... but most of my friend probably use their beds once or twice a year (furniture and crap)...
Oh... the new Dakota's... @ Dodge!!! I'm not even gonna start... that will surely take the "Ugly Truck" title away from Chevy.
Always a Fordguy,
Ray

I don't know why they are styling square again. I like the curved lines better, I think they "wear" better in the long run (think of all of those ugly squared off looking vehicles from the 80's!). In the pix, it appears to look like the Explorer and the Expedition (that they ruined).

I for one am really pleased with it, it doesn't make you feel like you're driving a girls truck when parked next to a superduty (the real work truck in the line) and it is classy enough you could go to a nice restaurant and your girl won't be ashamed. I think it will just take time to adjust for many.
