VIN/serial # is inside the glove box door. Also buried on the frame under the steering box/cowl area but Ive yet to find a cop or registry idiot smart enough to look there....or want to get dirty.
Glove box doors are cheap enough if you want to create a new ID.

i might be getting a 54 ford f100 for parts with a clean title .so that will give me a title. the 53 cost me 900.00 ang its 95% rust free. but thank you kevin

 

Getting a clear title varies from state to state. Better ask that question to some guys locally.

 

Here in Nevada the DMV inspector checked the frame as well as the door post for my '56. You should find & check both locations so you don't have any problems.
