drivers door alingment

Anyone know how to get the driver's door back into alingment? It's not bad but I notice that it seems to droop a little after ten years of service. I've tried pushing up on it to see if I could move it and couldn't. I'm starting to think the whole set up that it hangs on has slid down or something?? It's a minor thing that's more of a pain in the butt than anything else but if it's an easy fix I'd like to do it.

You need hinge repair. I did mine on my '88 and I remember it didn't go too bad. I think I just replaced the pins. If I remember, the hard part was grinding the end off the pin so I could drive it out of the hinge. Kinda tough to fit a 4" grinder in there. If you have a die grinder, it would be easy.

For a temporary fix, put some washers between the hinge and frame. One or two will probably do it. Then when you get time you can change the pins.

you can get the hinge pin and bushing kit at napa. you may be able to get at other parts houses too but I work there so I know for sure that napa has them. I cant remember the part # right off the top of my head but just ask the counterman and they can look it up for you

The hinge pin kit is not all that difficult. I have done several, though it does go much easier if you have a friend to help. Each kit I think is about $5.

I liked the results. I just used a floor jack & a board to stabilize the door when when I removed the old pin. There is no need to to remove the whole hinge, just the part atached to the door itself. I used a dremel tool to remove the top of the pin to knock it through, but you could use a drill if you have a big enough bit. Only drawback is you can tell it is not the original pin. Not a big deal for me.
