I bought a truck and cannot find the VIN for it. Can anybody tell me where the vin is? I need it to register since the guy I bought it from lost the title and don't remember where it is?

 

On mine, as I belive on most, the vin tag is on the plate on the glove box lid and a partial vin on the frame rail on the top of the right frame rail near the starter. Use an electric wire brush and the one on the frame should appear.

 

thanks man....i looked there on the inside cover and you know what....it was removed..so i have to check the rail now...thanks for the help...if not there...SALVAGE TITLE!!!!!!!!!!

 

I answered that question a few days ago but it never went thru.
One suggestion was to find another glovebox door with the plate. They show up for around $25 on several auction sites, etc.
No big deal since it is a common practice.
Finding the frame ID is usually close to impossible and I dont know any State Troopers that are willing to get their hands dirty anyway just to sign off on some old truck.
