popping noise from front of truck!
there is a popping noise that comes from the front of my truck when making a turn. most often it is a single thud, but sometimes is a slow creaking sound while i'm pulling into a driveway. it seems like there is a point i get to when i turn my wheel that causes the pop.
i have the TTB front axle, and know i need new axle pivot bushings if that is any help.
anybody know what the noise is, or even know what i'm talking about?

4x4 right? stock u-joints in front axles don't have grease fittings, so seize up rock hard over 15 years, make all kinds of weird noises. Also you say you know you need new ones, so stiff axles end up taking out the nylon bushings in the axle locking hubs if not looked after! U joints need grease, and need to be run for exercise on a regular basis.

I'm haven't heard the slow creaking sound, but the pop is familiar. I observed that the front end of the leaf spring (driver's side on mine) sometimes slides back and forth in the shackle when under steering load. I haven't tried to fix mine yet - as long as it doesn't fall apart on the road.:-) If you find a easy fix for it let us know.
