1955 ... not exactly 2004-2007. You're in the wrong forum ... may want to try one of the others for classics. Good luck.

I have been told this about the older '48-52 Fords but I would imagine the "newer" models would be the same. The one major problem would be the pitman arm. The bigger trucks have a bigger diameter splined shaft so you would have to have the larger pitman are to go with the larger box.

bobj49f2, I found that out when I tried using an F800 steering gear box on an F600, the pitman arm didn`t even come close to fitting. I don`t know if it was possible to use the larger pitman arm as on the other end it might be a different size as well. I gave up as it seemed too much trouble at that time.

The F-600 box is the way to go, but, If you are running the stock engine (v-8) the canister oil filter is extremely close to the larger box.

The f-600's came with an oil filter 90 degree adapter to move the oil filter away from the box.

If you go this route and need the adapter I have them. PM me and we will work something out.

Another note: The 53-55 boxes are the same, but the 56 has a 1" shorter steering shaft and when used with the 53-55 steering wheel it makes for an uncomfortable fit between your stomach and the steering wheel.
