Lightbulb New Hella goodies: Headlights, LED tailights and grill w/ dr. lights

Wasn't sure how long these have been out, not sure I've seen them mentioned on here. It says the grill will be out soon. On MotorHaven (FTE Sponsor):

The headlights are blacked out like the Harley lights, but also have a slightly tinted lens. Not sure if they have identical optics to the OE units, it woud be nice if they improved on the beam a bit. I haven't seen or had too many good experiences with aftermarket headlamps, Hella being one of the few exceptions (as far as the VW market anyway).

Anybody tried them? Not cheap (compared to the "ebay" lights), but that's not always a bad thing.

^^Agreed! I wonder if they'll have the chrome lariat style as well? The only thing I don't like is they use the factory headlight harness and bulbs which means it's one or the other. I'd have to wire them up to use both...

I'm confused, what do you mean by one or the other? You mean the driving lights or the headlights? The lights in the grill are to supplement the high beam of the headlights, they aren't designed to be used alone.

Yes they'll be wired separately, but they should come with a harness. Adding a relay to make them come on/off automatically with the high beams should be easy.

Sorry if I misunderstood.

I spoke with the guys here that wrote copy for this new Hella grill (which does need to come out already!) and I got some insight.

Hella is shooting for January, but you know how that goes, it might be pushed back. But we'll have them as soon as Hella brings them out.

You could always swap in other bulbs if you don't want to use your factory ones.

They'll be wired seperately , but...Hella's come with wiring harnesses so we'll definitely make a note on our site if this on comes with the harness.

We'll list it in the feature arrows like we do for this Hella light (check out the second to last feature):

Chrome is on the slate to be made. We'll have to wait and see what they roll out with when it's official.

I would guess yes, at least as much as any other light out there. If I'm correct, these use the "Rally 4000 Compact" lights (that seems to be what's shown, not sure if others will fit). Not a cheap light at nearly $500 for a halogen set or $1K for HID. I'm sure some clear stone shield are available for a decent price.

That does leave me wondering how much the grill package will be.
