Reliable Source for Remanufactured 4.6L Longblocks?

My bud with the 97-98 F-150 is beginning to look for a 4.6L remanufactured longblock to replace the current Romeo cast in his truck.

I found a place called "Power Pro 2000".

They offer a 5yr/100,000mi warranty with not as many loopholes as you'd expect.

Here's the link to their Ford longblock page:

http://www.powerpro2000.com/lb_ford.htm

For their 97-00 Ford truck VIN "W" longblock, it states the following:

F-Series Truck Engine Expedition Engine, SOHC Romeo Plant,6 bolt flywheel, Block # F7AE XW7E, Head # F5AE

The price is $2,375, plus a $450 core.

I seem to lean towards this place as opposed to Jasper. But, ya'll tell me what you think!

Thanks for any insight!

Looks like a pretty good deal. I have never heard anything about them, myself.

That looks like a really good deal. I picked up my long bock from ford it was $2,600. The core charge was $600. It had a 3 year/36,000 mile warranty. It took a couple of days to come in and I picked it up on a Friday and dropped it off the core on the following Monday.

Thanks for the input, fellas!

I'm going to give them a call and see how their sales staff sounds, and how much they know about the products that they sell.

I called the Ford dealer... They want $3,200 for a 4.6L longblock.

That's a little steep IMO.

Thanks again!

$3200 was the starting price of the long block I bought. I talked the parts guy down to $2600.

I wouldn't buy a reman'd engine-the warranties you get with them are a real joke, and never pay for labor if they have a failure. If you've ever seen how the "remanufacture" most of these engines-you'd run away fast.
IMO,find a low-mileage used engine from a later model truck or even an Expedition. The'll have PI heads instead of the NPI's,and if you get a complete engine-you'll have everything needed to change it out. I'm looking at a 34K mile '02 4.6L in GA on car-part.com right now for $1141,and there's many others out there like it.
