Wax - Liquid vs Paste

I've always used paste wax but I recently tried some liquid that seems to work easier. All other things being equal (same brand and model ) is there a differnce in quality between the paste and liquid versions. My only thought is the paste appears to last longer than a bottle of the same type liquid. But I'm thinking of converting to liquid for ease of use. Just my thoughts, I'd love to hear other's experinces.

thanks,

Bob in MA

i'm not sure either but like you said the paste seems to last longer as well as make your arm wore out longer. i think that if the liquid was as good or lasted as long then why would they continue to make the paste? stritly my opinion. i have heard that the dupont spray wax is very good as a between "good wax job" wax and can be sprayed on plastic without leaving the nasty white color. interested to see what others have to say.

I just put 2 coats of the Dupont Teflon spray wax on my truck over the weekend. I don't know how it will hold up but it is very easy to put on and take off. Seems to put a very nice shine on and it is VERY slippery when buffed out and dry.fficeffice" />>>

And yes you can get it on plastic and it will not let the nasty white color on it.
I like it so far, only time will tell.>>

According to the folks at Meguiars, there is no difference in the lasting ability between the 2.

the best wax in the world to use is collonites 845 or 945 insulator wax, that is the super shiny sh** and it insulates and protects very well.

I got a bottle of the dupont teflon and was very disappointed. After a week water wouldnt bead on my truck and the shine was gone. Turtle Wax Ice lasts a lot longer and is just as easy to apply

Has anyone used the TurtleWax quick-shine (sp?) or equivalent? Thinking on trying it on wife's car?

your performing an experiment on her vehicle. What if it fails you going to tell her? Hope not Mr. Dead Meat.

What is the R rating of this wax as my black Discovery gets stinking hot if parked more than 5 minutes in the sun. Always looking for a tree to park under.

Just received Jan. 08 copy of 'Carcraft Magazine' where they have an article on "detail your car" covers polishing, waxing, including detailing trim, interior and maintenance. Would not purchase magazine just for the article, althought, there are few other interesting article to include 'patch panels', vent-wing reseal', etc. Mentions best wax carnauba, nothing new there, and wax slightly more labor intensive than liquid but last longer. Anyhow, perhaps next time required to help with the shopping may want to wonder over to the magazine rack.

I only use Meguiar's HI-TECH yellow wax #26 an pure carnauba paste wax, purchased 12 cans when they stopped production.
#26 is no longer available due to the (?) high VOC, give me a break like I open the can and 500 people die?
This give the longest protection for a black outside vehicle.

I think you mean the #16. Meguiars still sells #26.

To the OP I use both paste and liquid. I like paste by hand and liquid by machine. No difference in the look or longevity.

You might want to check with Meguiars because #26 is still available even in California. Here's a link to #26 on their web site.

http://www.meguiars.com/?pro-paste-c...llow-Wax-Paste

26 can also be found in many parts stores like Auto Zone, Pep Boys, O'Reillys etc..... #16 was the only wax I have seen that was discontinued.
