Question Service Engine Light?

I have a 2003 F150 4.2 liter with 57,000 miles. I noticed that the service engine soon light just came on. Do I need to get this checked asap or can I drive it for a while until I get a day off from work? Thanks, Alan.

Just don't let the monkeys at the parts store try to diagnose the fault. They're usually wrong.

Have them read the codes, WRITE THEM DOWN, and come back here for advice.

You can buy a code reader for less than $40.00 now. Don't let amateurs do a pro's job. I've had people come to my shop with stories about how the parts store read their codes, sold them a part, they put it in, and the light still wouldn't go out. Most of the time they are wrong and a different repair needs to be done. Go get a cheap Sun reader, get the code, and you can probably find info here along with the code book they give you. It's probably emissions related since you said it still runs good. Good luck!!!
