New To The Forums Got Some Questions

Hi everyone my name is Tim and I am currently looking at a 2004 F250 V10 with about 20,000 miles on her. I am familiar to Ford owning 3 mustangs before this but I am older now and I would like a truck. I am new to the V10 though. Are there any TSB's or things I should be worried about? What are the best performance parts for the V10( I assume an intake and exhaust) Anyone have clips of a V10 with a set of flows? I know these things love to suck fuel I imagine about 8mpg on a good day, is there anything I can do to make that any better?

8.5-9 towing 8000lbs.

First thing: Change your perception. SEE? You suddenly increased your mileage realistically by 4mpg.

Welcome to FTE!! When do you pick up your truck?

Hopefully I will be getting one soon. I am still trying to sell my 03 Mach1. The problem I am running into is what I owe on the car and what I will get for it are two different fiqures. As soon as I sell I will be looking to buy. So any links to sites that make the best aftermarket parts for the V10's. I think I have seen a supercharger kit by Eaton for them.

I was thinking the same way, Tim

for mine once I got out of warranty ('06 Quigley E-350 Super Duty Chateau). My advice is to get it, drive it a while and see what it does for you before attempting a mod that might actually make it worse. I've read of some exhaust mods here that the owner actually replaced with the stock parts. Many people here praise this engine up and down. Read as much as you can here before spending big money on "add-on" toys that you quite possibly will be disappointed with. The power is great and the mileage is liveable as is.

I will tell you that for a stock motor, I am truly impressed with the performance and mine hasn't reached the magical 7,500 miles when it is supposed to reach its full potential.

Ain't it a beeatch to be upside down on a car loan? Thank the easy credit terms and "low" down payment for that. Live 'n' learn, huh?

Wow, I've never seen 8mpg. I haven't towed anything, but have carried between 3 and 4k lbs in the bed. Last Sunday I drove in 4wheel hi and 4wheel low (depending on the situation) for 1/2 tank of fuel and did better than 8...

I don't know if you're looking a 4x4 or not, but I would expect "close" to 50% better mileage than you're already expecting... from 8 on a good day to 12 - 14 on a good day.

I tow 5000 lbs pretty much entirely around town in stop and go traffic. If I towed the whole tank full without ever unhooking the trailer I end up somewhere around 8mpg, sometimes even high-7's. My average speed is usually about 21mph for the day according to the Scangauge, it's that much stop and go. That is quite possibly the worst case scenario for mileage. Only towing heavier on the same routes would be worse. You can watch the instant fuel economy on the SG sink to less than 2mpg and rise slowly from every stop. And it is stop after stop after stop!

Welcome to the site. It is a great place to find any info you will want. On my last tank I got 7.5 but that is all town driving and a lot of idle time as the weather here has been in the single digits. When I am plowing I average around 6. The power is awesome and if I have the traction it will push snow like no other truck I have used.
