Serial Number Plate on a 56 F100

I am looking to buy a 56 F100. The owner can't find the title. The truck is in a shed covered with Lawn Art.

Where is the Serial Number Tag. I don't want to unpack the entire shed.

Inside the glovebox door.

Also on the frame but that sounds impossible for now.

Serial Number Plate on a 56 F100

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 21-Jan-02 AT 07:28 PM (EST)]Patman56,

For a 1956, you should be able to find the serial number (or VIN) in two places:

1. On a metal tag riveted to the cab between the two hinges on the driver side door.

2. Stamped on the top of the right side frame rail between the cab and the front axle as 286merc indicated.

In case you need the decode info I've reposted it below. Good luck with your find.

Earl.
