ya and the LBZ 650 torque is rated at 1600 rpms, and the new LMM that will be the 2007.5 motor will have 660 torque and 365hp apparently because GM is going to be going to a 4 inch exhaust stock.

Why did ford do 650 at 2000????????? It looks like all ford did was add a little programing on top of the current 6.0 to get the additional hp and added revs to get the extra torque, but not really anymore usable then the current torque at a lesser rpm. IDK??????????

Good question, It is making more hp at a lower rpm. but I wish the torque was a little lower. I thought that by have 2 turbos it might be more efficient and make the torque lower. Oh well. Im sure this engine will pull like crazy. can't wait to test drive one.

Oh, does anyone know what size exaust ford is using on these engines?

the engine seems to have to rev higher than the other makes to have to get in to the power band. i wonder how that will play out in the real world of pulling? but then again when you on the highway you will be at those rpms anyway but not when you from a dead stop.

Don't get hung up over the peak torque rpm. 650 peak at 2,000 rpm doesn't mean that it won't have 600 plus @ 1600 rpm

it ought to have over 600 at 1600rpms, because the 2nd generation duramax (LLY) has 610 at that same rpm.

Yeah looking at the power curves it looks like it makes 600 between 1600 and 1700 rpm. The engine makes max at 300 less rpm than the 6.0. I think this engine won't be as high reving and will stay between 2k-3k rpm more like the 7.3 did, at least im hoping it does. Can't wait to test drive one of these things.

The curve I saw showed it easily making 600 ft lbs plus from 1800 to 3000 rpm and 500 plus from 1400 to 3400 rpm. Can a six banger or the Isuzu match those numbers for a 1200 or 2000 rpm wide power band?

Yes it can. Here is the LMM which is just a little different then the current LBZ as it will be in the 2007 body style trucks.

It makes 600+ from about 1500 rpms to just about the rev limit, and 500+ from about the same 1400 rpms until top end is reached.

there is the link, but I can't seem to get the graph to show as an image.

BTW can you post a link to the new 6.4 torque curve?

bench racing....I say just wait till they drop the first shipment of 6.4L trucks and take one for a drive. You can speculate all you want, but no theory will prove as definate as practical...just like a bud and I just put 40s on a bagged 7.3L idi equipped truck with 3.55s, and it would roast em on wet pavement just mashing it in second. The theory doesnt sound promising, 3.55s and 40s...but the practical proved theory wrong.

350 vs.450 numbers

Just left the Ford dealer. Planned to order a 450 but stopped when told the HP for a 450 was 325, not 350, and worse yet, the torque was 600, not 650. I asked the Ford rep to check to see if it was a typo. He called a few minutes ago to advise that Ford engineering decided to detune the 450. The theory is with bigger rear end gear, you don't need as much power to get the job done. I have never ordered or driven a 450 or 550 but understand that detuning is common. I don't like it since I did not plan to order the 4.88 axle. It seems ordering the 350 with the optional 4.30 axle gives you the better motor with enough grunt to tow 18800 using a gooseneck. Might have to forego the bigger brakes, wider front end and better turning radius, and the stiffer suspension that the 450 brought to the table.

Creekowl, if you look at the older 550 and 650 that have the same 6.0, they usually have less hp and more torque and usually at a lower rpm. I dont know why the tq # would be down but that is why the HP is down.
