ok guys I'm pretty new to diesel. Why are so many people here chipping there truck for additional power??Doesn't the thing have enough power. I can see putting a chip in for better miliage. But for more power makes absolutly no sense to me..Am I missing something..My 06 f-250 has all the power a guy could want..I would like to see some better MPG's though..Take care

For some it's like paying a truck tax. It's not fully theirs until it's been given some personal goodies!
people want power. why else does it have as much as it does? if power was not a demand, then we would be running 4 cylinder diesels and gassers with no emmision issues.
I think most guys do it cause you can make big power relitively cheaply vs. a gas motor. Let's buy a 6k whipple blower not including 'some' bells & whistles or lets chip my diesel w/ gauges and guys in Camro's and Mustanges will have a hard time keeping up.

DMAX-HD hit it right. I have never owned a stock vehicle, I always have to be different. Doesn't matter what it is or how many wheels, I like to improve it. Stock is for the guy down the street that has 2.2 kids and 1 dog who drives a vehicle for transportation.
The diesel engine, coming from my farming and heavy equipment background, is $$$ gained to modify over gas. I raced for a number of years, to find 1/2HP over your competition is many hours and allot of money.
Because I can! Because its unique! Why be common? By that rational, (isn't the stock good enough?), we would all be driving the same vehicle. Who wants to be just like everyone else? Why did ford come out with the 6.0 anyway, wasn't the 7.3 powerfull enough?
Jetch, I hear ya. I got mine for towing and I can pull to the end of the earth and it has all the power I need and them some. As far as the chippers go, you might as well save your breath. You got to pay to play. Some guys think they need more. Me, I got enough.
Maybe. if you get a chance to drive a tuned 6.0 give it a shot. Mine's stock (the engine anyway) and I'm keeping it that way, but I drove a tuned one and I got to say, it definitely had a lot more kick than mine and was a blast to drive. But then again I also test drove a station wagon with my wife not to long ago, that was unreal. You try and race a soccer mom driving one of those things and I don't care what tune you have in your 6.0, she's going to hand you your rear-end and shrivel that manhood. Thank God the wife decided against it. Because as quick as it was, it's still a wagon and I have my pride. Point is: Do what you want and try to avoid criticizing others because you don't see the "point" of what they did (I'm not accusing anyone of doing that, I'm just saying), and for you tuned folks, be careful when pulling up to a light and wanting to race someone (not that I condone street racing), 'cause you never know. . .
