I dented two rims this morning...

Driving to work this morning I hit a pot hole so deep that it dented both of the passenger side rims. I'm lucky the tires didn't blow out. I already called the town but I haven't got a response yet.

Where is a good place to buy replacement rims? I have a 1999 F150 XLT 4wd. The rims appear to be chrome.

I am checking Ebay now. I found a few sets that may work. Is there a way to find out what offset, width and bolt pattern the stock wheels are? The tires that are on there now are 265/70 R17 and the rims have 5 lugs.

There's a "casting/part" number on the inside. Match up the numbers on the replacements and you're good to go.

I am going to "try" to install all new rotors and pads tonight. I will check the back of the rims when I take them off.

I'm hoping my front rotors come off without too much fuss.

edit:

I ordered both front and rear rotors as well as pads but I only received the rear rotors so far. I guess I won't be doing the brakes tonight!

Try the dealer if you want to match the OEM rims. You may find that the dealer is not as expensive as you might assume for rims.

I am not a big fan of aftermarkert rims. The ones I do like tend to be fairly expensive. I think a set of used OEM type rims is what I am going to get. My tires are still in great shape so I don't want to change the rim size. I am amazed that the tires, on the rims that were damaged, didn't get damaged. I thought that the sidewalls would bubble but so far they haven't. You gotta love truck tire's sidewall strength. Car tires would have bubbled for sure!

I found a set of chrome Lincoln Navigator wheels on ebay that will work. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...6965&rd=1&rd=1 The bidding doesn't end for another 26 hours. If I can get them for a resonable price that is what I'll get. I may also check a few local salvage yards to see what they have. I hate paying a $100.00 just for shipping.

www.centerlinewheels.com

They have great looking wheels (and strong...3200lbs each) and they usually have certian sets for $400 ($99/ea.)

I bought replacement rims at the local tire dealer. They gave me OEM rims from trucks that had aftermarket rims put on. They are reasonable cheap, MUCH cheaper than new from the dealer.

The stock rims are 17x7.5". They have a 5x135mm bolt circle.
New OEM rims from the dealer are about $300 each.

Soory to hear of your mishap
Will the town reimburse you for your damage since this pot hole was the fault of the township??
Id take lots of photos and stress the safety aspect and let them know it could have been a whole lot worse.
Good luck
