76' F-250 "Northlander" 4x4

I am looking for any info out there on these trucks that were marketed in the upper Midwest. I have looked all over and had no luck. I know they had a white decal, dual block heaters, sunroof, push bar, light/roll bar and a reese style hitch. Has anyone heard of this option. Any help much appreciated.

It would have been a Regionally offered package.

To me it means: Winter Capable Truck.

SUNROOF ?

I don't recall that

I'll check the brochure.

Yup, they sold the heck out of them upper here in the Frozen Tundra part of the country. The package was usually little more then decals and a block heater. Ford always promtoed the heck out of them regionally, usually about the middle of the model year in either a low/no interest or a low down, low payment lease deal. Nothing special about the trucks except the decals. If anything, the majority of them were really down on options. You got power steering and brakes, A/C, and power windows, that was about it.... The push bar, roll bar and sunroof were more then likely installed after the sale of the truck from the dealership.... Nothing special or rare about them up here./.....

79 and earlier didnt have power windows.
Plus I dont think there was much "leasing" back then?

Well, I'm sure you are correct on the options in '79..... However that is not the only year the "Northlander Edition" was available, as they still advertise and sell the same package today on Ford trucks..... And yes, there was leasing. I leased my first pickup in '77, good way to go when the truck was used primarily for business....Leasing started before '79, though it didn't become near as common as it is today. Most of us who leased our trucks did it because the lease was a better option for taxes then taking depreciation on an owned truck. Guess I am guilty of generalizing what the trucks were over the years, and not specifically commenting on the '76 model

the roll bar/light bar and moon roof must have been a different package offered to dealers. I had 2 of the Northlander edition pickups, neither of which had this option... I would imagine as with many regional offerings, there was different options in different areas.......??????? Curious to hear what some of the other "Northlander" pickups came with......

Ive got a 77 F-150 Shortbed 4x4. Blue with white Explorer type striping but I dont think its an Explorer. Ive suspected it might be a Northland truck but I dont remember why. I havent looked at it in a while but Im gonna look it over real good tonight after I get home. Its got a 400 4sp ac and the extra lighting package. Its an odd combination of options plus its got a sunroof. I figured someone added the sunroof but its a real clean install. Any pics of verified original sunroof would be nice to see for comparison. Im also gonna look to see if theres any evidence of a rollbar but thats gonna have to wait till the snow melts.

No sunroofs,

These trucks were working trucks not for luxury things like that

I'm pretty sure sunroofs were an option for Vans though.

I'll check my book
