7.3L Transfer Case

So I was out wheeling and destroyed my Rear Driveshaft... I had the thing retubed but they didn't want to balance it without the front half of the rear shaft too. - The question is: If I pull the Driveshaft out of the Transfercase will it stay sealed? That is to say - will oil pour/leak out of it without the shaft in it... cause I've been driving on my Front-Axle and only have one car. =)

The Kind of wheeling that gets you a bent Driveshaft (Rattlesnake, of "The Snakes" Northern Utah) This is smack in the middle of the trail too so you know it wasn't posed at the trailhead or something.

Does anyone know - if you pull the driveshaft out of the Transfercase Slipjoint - is the Transfercase still sealed? Or is it like a lot of Transmissions that will leak oil when the driveshaft is pulled?

I only get a few drops of tranny fluid when I pull mine apart. Raising the back of the truck will help but you're still going to get a few drops.

Watch out for that rock!

When I got my drive shaft balanced , I unbolted the front half at the plate just outside of the transfer case, and left the short shaft in, so I sent the short and long sections of the rear drive shaft with the carrier bearing and they balanced if like that, guess it depends on who you see.

Weak - not sure how I'm going to get this thing balanced.

It's about 18 Miles west of Lehi. The Snakes (Rattle Snake and Constrictor) and Little moab are in this area. It's fairly tough to get through even rattle-snake in a crew-cab (My Drag-Link also got reworked a bit.) I haven't tried Contrictor yet. You might consider checking out www.rockymountainextreme.com Lots of Rockbuggies but there are some sheetmetal/full-size guys.
