Unhappy P1152 trouble code 2003 F-250 (5.4L) Help!

When I started my 2003 F-250 (5.4L) this morning, the check engine light came on, the engine temp guage went to hot and the truck ran like it was only using 2 cylinders. It was only about 30 degrees today so I know it definitely wasn't hot.

Could a bad temperature sensor make the Ho2S sensor send a P1152 code? Or do I have multiple problems?

I wouldn't think so. On the odd chance though, the o2 sensor telling the computer it's running rich and the ecm is backing fuel out. Running lean will cause the motor to run hotter.

If you haven't changed them out, now would be a good time to put o2 sensors in. If that doesn't help, you have other problems. With the engine running hotter than usual, I would look into the water pump and coolant mix.

It was 30 degrees when I started it and it happened right away. I opened the hood and the mototr wasn't hot at all so I know it's not actually hot. It has to be a sensor malfunction somewhere.

That makes sence. The ECT showed the motor was up to temp, but the o2 showed rich from cold start open loop. It got very confused and didn't know if it should go into closed loop.

If the ECT was out of range though, it should through an ECT code. It may be dirty or on the verge of failing.

The Engine Coolant Tempature sensor. It would be unusual for one to fail that quickly, but odd things do happen. However if the o2 sensors are original, you probably need to replace them. 60K is a high life average for them.
