Are brighter reverse lights available for a 1999 F150?

I have a 99 F150 supercab with factory tinted windows. I can't see anything when backing up at night. Is there a brighter bulb I could install or is my only option to install a set of aftermarkert reverse lights?

I tried to search but couldn't.

I have some 50 watt halogens in mine, they made a pretty good difference. I got them from Pep Boys a couple years ago. I want to say it's a 3156 bulb but can't remember for sure.

I know what you mean. I have 5% tinted windows all the way around on my truck and at night it's impossible to back up. That's why when I get home during the day I back my truck into the drive.

It is a 3156 bulb. I just went to Autozone but all they had was OEM type bulbs.

Not sure if they are the same brand, but it is a similar pic to what I remember being on the box mine came in.

I was eyeballing some brighter back up bulbs over at CHecker Auto, but didn't feel wealthy enough at the time. I have tinted windows on my NASCAR Edition too. I roll the winders down at nite to back up and see. I always back into place in my parking space, unless I'm leaving again, right away. I'll have to go over to Checker and snoop again. Ya got my curiousity up, now. I need to rest for about an hour so my back can take the trip over there and back, but I'll try to remember who makes 'em, numbers and price.

Thanks tdister. I found a set on Ebay (I love Ebay ) that has the same picture on the box.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/DesignTech-50W-Super-Bright-Halogen-Back-Up-Bulb-2-pk_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33716QQihZ019QQitemZ 8060031774QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWD1V

I am going to check a few more local stores but if I can't find anything then I will order a set online.

That looks like them. They aren't blindingly bright, but they do make a difference. They say 2.5 times brighter which is hard to judge with the eye, I guess I could agree withh that though.

Here's another thread on the same topic in the '04-up forum: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/5...-lights-2.html

I had auxillary lights on my old truck...but usually use my mirrors now

rolling down the window helps brighten things up

what was the cost on the new bulbs at checker?

I have 65% or 35% depending how you figure it (blocks 65% of the suns rays)

and I just installed a glass scapes decal on the back window but that is see thru

$20 at Wal*Mart will get you a nice pair of fog lights that you can mount to the rear bumper. Thats what I did.
