a set of headers, free flowing exhaust, a new air filter and maybe a chip or tuner

Also go with 4.56 gears in both pumpkins if it 4x4. Is it a cc,extended cab or standard?
I also have a cc 460 5 speed with 4.10s and 33 by 12.50 on 16.5 bfg mud terrain and can spin the tires in four of the gears.

Wow! You can spin the tires in for gears? That is good to hear as I am selling my F150 4.6 5 speed and I was looking at a late 90's F350 CC 4X4 460 or a late 90's Chevy 3500 Dually 454 but I was thinking that the 454 would be much more powerful. But if you can spin the tires in four gears.......................

460 and 454 #s are really close. Even though I am truly a chevy fan and my ford truck is the first non chevy vehicle I have ever owned, I believe that the 460 has a tad more power than the 454, but they can both be modified to suit your needs. Either one will probably make you happy!

do much highway driving? if so just leave it 4.10s- 4.56s would leave your rpms too high unless you went to 37s, then 4.56's wouldnt be bad

Wow... you can spin your tires with your 460? I have to fight mine to get the tires to turn over... granted the engine is bone stock, and I know something is wrong with but still.... it'd be nice to smoke tires on command.

don't worry baby... I still love you

I read a trailer life article once about a 97 F250 with a 460 that had a banks header/cat back exhaust kit installed. I also belive they put a free flowing air filter kit on this as well. Now you know how dyno runs can very but they did a before and after test and this particular vehicle picked up between 50-75 hp at the rear wheels. From the last fuel injected 460's Ford made I have seen with any air filter work/ exhaust header etc work really responded well to. Ford really choked these things off. Probably because they knew guys would tear the running gear out of them from the factory with the power they can develop.
