studder when revving up

hey i have a contour with a v-6 ...when in Park or N i rev up my car and about 600 RPMs it spudders and doesn;t want to rev any more...it drives fine however..do u guys think this a Governor or plug and wires???

I'd take a look at the plugs. When they get older sometimes they don't want to fire too well at lower RPMs.

A Contour? What engine did they use in that? My B.I.L. just got one, it has a 4-banger in it. And 600 rpms seems a bit low for idle on a 4 or a V6...did you mean perhaps 6000 RPMs? In which case, it's not a real good idea to rev it that high unloaded.
