08 Production Schedule

Wondering if anyone knows when the first 08's will start coming off the line. I've heard Ford is going to start production of about 1800 units in December and have them ready before the Christmas break. That would put trucks on dealer lots in January. Is there anyone who knows anyone at KTP who can tell what the plans are? I think it would be cool to hear stories from KTP employees about their experiences with the first units coming down the assembly line.

Production Schedule

I just left the Ford dealer. I ordered a 08 F350 dually diesel on November 9. It has been assigned a VIN and information sent to the factory so they can schedule, order parts, etc. The stated production date was after Jan. 1. No pricing was available. The order was locked and could not be changed except for the exterior color of the vehicle.

Ok, I can see how custom-ordered vehicles will not be manufactured until after the first of the year. This rumor about pre-Christmas vehicles would make sense to prime the pump and get some inventory to dealer lots. That assumes that Ford has an inventory of 6.4's that they can install in the new vehicles right now.

They can produce them, they just can't sell them. I don't believe that any will ship until Jan 1, expect to see them in the weeks that follow. Job 1 starts 12/18.

My guess is that they will not build many of them untill the have to!!! They are not able to manufacture the 6.0 after Dec 31. They are building them and probably stocking them up. Then when they run out of 6.0 motors they will start to make the 08 with the 6.4 which will be manufactured in January.

That's what I was referring to in the original question. Does anyone have access to KTP employees who can confirm this and provide info as the trucks begin rolling down the line?

I read on another forum that a guy from the kentucky plant said they where going to produce 1200 units before the holiday shut down in mid-December. But he did not know when they would ship or where they were headed?

A couple of the Kentuck boys have posted in this forum but, not recently. Probably a little at risk...if they say much.

Ya since the layoffs and buy-outs I would bet the employee's that are still with Ford would like to keep thier jobs rather than give us the inside scoop.
