Bed Wood Specs

Awhile back someone posted the info for the specifications of the wood in a 53-56 bed. The info included drawings with the length, width, cuts, etc. of the boards. I lost mine and cannot find it through a search. Can anyone provide me with this info???? TIA :-(

Bed Wood Specs

I just posted 53-55 F100 bedwood drawings on my homepage. They are down on the lower left corner of my page. They should print on an 8 X 11 sheet of paper. My printer is acting up so I could not test. Let me know if any problems. I recommend not drilling the holes for the bed to frame bolts until a test fit is done. I used the specs for my wood and they seem to be right.

It would not be terribly difficult to make your own plans for a bedwood set for any size bed. If you had a set of good bedstrips and a few 1x6 pine boards you could practice. You can get by with standard 5 1/2 wide boards which are easier to find. Many plans call for 5 3/4 wide but it is not strictly necessary.

What are the dimensions of a 51 bed and how many bedstrips. I'll do some "ciphering" for you.

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 07-Apr-02 AT 09:44 AM (EST)]The bed neasures 78 3/8" x 49" and has three strips (four boards). I'm not sure if that's correct or not, though. Maybe three strips is all that the previous owner could come up with? I'd sure appreciate any information!

Erik

I will give you an assist with the specs but we will have to wait for a 51 owner to speak up and verify the proper number of boards. The 49in wide is the same as my 53.
