Welcome to FTE!

Is the light blinking a code when you start up the vehicle? It is a pattern of short pulses, for instance, a code 25 would be 2 pulses, a pause, then 5 pulses, repeated a few times before the light stays on.

There's really nothing more to reading the code than just watching the light and carefully counting pulses. It can be tricky, but you should get a two digit number, usually somewhere between 10 and 60 (from the ones I've seen mentioned on here). It's simple enough (starting the car) that you should be able to repeat it a few times to ensure that you've read the code right.

Driver Pretensioner Circuit

If it was wrecked the seat belt pretensioner needs to be replaced, it it wasn't wrecked check the connector under the the seat, it may be loose.

Is the system going to reset by itself if I change this or do I need to do something?
Thanks

The way it works is it will walk through the system tests one by one from the lowest number to the highest. Here are the codes for a 2002 (from Ford docs). It looks like your almost there. As soon as it can get throught the system tests the light will go out and all will be fine and the system will be functional.

Here are the codes for Air Bag faults. When first started the dash light will blink the two digit code before it comes on permanently.
