Here is a photo of it, vanilla colored module on the left side of the firewall under the dash near the brake pedal. This is a photo of the one as seen in my 2000 Expedition, F150 should be near identical. You will see a 5 digit number in large letters which would be a keypad code on vehicles equipped. You see the number 11935 clearly on the RAP module on this vehicle.

They are rather hard to find and more expensive than the later ones. Many of the early production F150 did not have keyless entry and just have relay driven power door locks.
That is exactly the kind of information I was looking for, thank you very much HomerWinzlow.

That's the cheapest "buy it now" one I could find on ebay right now. Just search for Ford Keyless Entry Keypad and you should find a bunch. The Part # is 3L2Z-14A626-AA. It sticks on with double sided tape and like someone else mentioned it sticks very good. Be sure you have it exactly where you want it before you pull the plastic off of the adhesive. I had it on my truck for a little over a year and loved it. After my truck got totalled I took a piece of fishing line and was able to pull it across behind the keypad and cut the adhesive tape. It was not real easy but it did work to remove it. It left half of the tape on the truck and half on the unit though. I was able to peel it off of the unit once it was off the truck. I was just going to give it to my dad and put it on his truck if it would have worked. I guess I'll just have to try to sell it.

Thanks again to everyone for their help.

Thanks! Yeah, I've seen those but never really read them, assuming (I KNOW) they were permanent mount.hard wired. It's not worth that much trouble. I could go for the stick-on though. Sent you a PM.

I recently got the wireless RAP module and wiring to add power door locks/windows etc to my 98 - just so happened the donor vehicle was a loaded 97 so I'll have to buy the older key fobs. When the yard guys tore into the truck I didn't get to see very well how the module was mounted but its right up against the windshield underneath the dash on the left side. I havn't installed it yet so thats about the best I can do - its a gray box with an antenna about the size and thickness of a ball point pen running accross it. It also has two electrical connectors with multiple wires that plug into it. Check out www.keylessride.com for replacement remotes and if you select your year truck it will show you what the key fob looks like. If you look at 98 on up the remote looks different and from what I understand isn't compatible.
