Question Ceramic front brake pads

Anybody have any good or bad luck with ceramic brake pads? I have 70,000 miles on my truck and the front brake pads are getting pretty thin. My local NAPA has everyting from house brand to ceramic. I will throw down for a set of ceramics if they are worth it. I dont tow much and when I do my boat does not go over 3000 lbs. I dont have any problems yet with warped rotors. If I do go with ceramics is there anything special I need to do for installation? Thanks in advance.

My buddy has the drilled & slotted rotors and the ceramix pads and he reports that he has no problems and he does a lot of heavy towing.

I always run ceramics. They last longer, virtually no dusting of the wheels and no squeaking/squealing break sounds. IMHO well worth the little extra.

I just did the NAPA rotors and ceramic pads. I'm happy so far. I haven't noticed any brake dust on the wheels. I would definitely recommend them.

Thanks to all, On this advice I just went a bought a pair and am going to cut the rotors and install them in a couple of weeks when things slow down for me. Did any of you have to replace any front brake hardware? I remember reading in past posts where some trucks had problems with the front caliper hardware. If so what should I look carefully at when I do the replacement? Any tips on what to do upon reassembly?

Go ahead and clean the slide pins and their bores real well and lube them up real good. I used the NAPA SynGlide lubricant. It's silicone and will not freeze or run off when hot.

The NAPA pads come with the spring clips and the retaining clips, but DO NOT come with the slide pin boots. Why I don't know. You'll have to buy the caliper hardware kit just to get the boots but you'll also get the clips in the kit too......

Guzzle92 has a good writeup on how to clean and lube the slidepins on his site. You'll have to search for his user name. His site link is listed in his sig. I'd go find it for ya but the search button has been missing from my website screen for the last few days...

yeah my search button is gone too otherwise I would have searched for other front brake replacement posts. The pads did come with everything like you said except the boots. Called the local NAPA and the boots come in some type of hardware kit and they are in stock so i'll have to get a couple of sets. I go thru the posts every day or 2 so i'll be looking for Guzzle92's sig and look up the writeup. Thanks for the help!!
