average a/c and heating cost

What would heating and cooling cost for the whole year in western VA, for a 1000 sq ft home?

I can say that my highest electric bill last winter was $78. (Stuart area) This is for an 1100 sq ft full basement all electric except propane cook stove. Don't worry about cooling as I go back to NY during summer. Ceiling fans work wonders.

Does anyone know what it cost to heat an average 1000 sq. ft home each month? What is the cheaper one to use now electric,propane or gas?

I have a gas and electric 2 zone system and in the coldest part of last winter my electric was around $115 and my gas bill was around $350. I have gas hot water heater, stove and fire place. in a 3,000 sq ft house. hope it helps
