Talking 4 wheel drive or not

I have an 03 super Duty, XL, 4X4 PS. It has manual locking hubs, and the shift lever on the floor. My buddy has told me all i have to do is shift into 4WHEEL HIGH, and only lock the hubs when i need 4
WHEEL LOW. Is that correct or do I have to lock the hubs manually all the time?

Your buddy must be a chevy driver - he's got it all wrong. You need to lock the hubs whenever you use 4x4, low range or not.

He'd be partly right if you had electronic shift on the fly... Then you don't need to lock the hubs manually unless the vacuum system malfunctions. For a truck like yours with a lever, it's get out and turn 'em in when you are going to be needing 4x4.

Plumbers make quite a bit of money doing things others wont....pretty smart if you ask me. He just needs to read his owners manual for that truck...
