I crawled under this weekend after putting in a new engine in my 1955 F-250 (my last 302 had a main bearing failure due to oil pump failure) and I found instead of a speedometer cable I have an electronic sending unit on my AOD!

So now which speedometers will work with this rascal! BTW my new engine is sweeeet! Very quiet and purrs.

Time to work on the interior next! I am using this as my daily driver now.

 

what year is the aod from? I might have a sppedo that will work for you.

the conventional speedometer cable will go in the same place. I have a 56 with an AOD in it and am using a 65 F100 cable. Plugs right in on both ends.

 

The AOD is an 85 from a Lincoln. I tried a cable but it has a gear on the bottom of the sending unit that the cable lacks.

 

the cable should have a gear too. Put the one from the sending unit on the cable. There should be a clip on the end of the gear. This may not be the gear you need but it will give you a starting point.
