'59 cardboard defroster nozzles preservation tips?

Folks,
How have you preserved the cardboard defroster nozzles? To keep these from decomposing any farther I'm thinking of coating/soaking them in fiberglass resin.
Any easier tips?
Thanks,
Brett

Hi Brett,
That sounds like a great idea that would work. I just thought you might want to check out this link anyway:
http://www.f100.com/5766Shop/index.htm
In the yellow box on the left, click on "Heater 57-60".
They are made of fiberglass. Hope this helps you.

I'm kind of behind on my reading. I had the same problem
with my defroster nozzles. Over the years mine had closed
up at the top. I stuffed them with newspaper to get them
back to the right shape and completely coated the outside
with poly resin and cloth. This was about 15 years ago and
I have had no more trouble with them. Sorry for the late
response.

I just finished doing a set of these that I picked up from a local junkyard. Paid $4.00 for both, $8.00 in resin, $2.00 in fiberglass mat. Worked very well. A bit messy and time consuming.
